is genshin impact mmorpg

Alright, so I’ve been seeing this question pop up a lot lately: “Is Genshin Impact an MMORPG?” And honestly, it’s a fair question! The game looks like one, with its huge open world and tons of players running around. So, I decided to do a little digging and, well, play the game a lot to really figure it out.

First, I jumped into the game. I mean, that’s the best way to understand anything, right? I created my character, started exploring, and… immediately got distracted by how pretty everything is. Seriously, the scenery is amazing.

My Exploration Process

  • Started playing solo: I began with the main story quest, you know, the usual stuff. Fighting slimes, meeting weird characters, the whole nine yards. It felt very much like a single-player RPG at this point.
  • Tried co-op mode: This is where things got interesting. I teamed up with a couple of other players to tackle some domains (basically dungeons). It was fun! We had to coordinate our attacks and use different elemental abilities to beat the bosses.
  • Checked out events: Genshin often has limited-time events. Some of these are solo, but others involve working with other players, like that one where we had to defend a thingy from waves of enemies.
  • Looked the definition of an MMORPG.Many people say the key characteristics of MMORPGs are persistent open worlds, a large number of players, progression system, and real-time interaction.

So, after all that playing (and a bit of online research, I won’t lie), here’s my take: Genshin Impact borrows some ideas from MMORPGs, but it’s not quite the same thing.

It has a massive open world, yes, and you can see other players running around. But you’re not constantly interacting with hundreds of people like you would in, say, World of Warcraft. Most of the time, you’re playing by yourself or with a small group of friends.

The co-op is there, but it’s more like a side dish than the main course. You can totally play the entire game solo if you * the game’s content can not support countless players at the same time.

In conclusion? I’d say Genshin Impact is more of an “open-world action RPG with co-op elements.” It’s got that MMO feel sometimes, but it’s not a true massively multiplayer * I think that is not a very crucial * important thing is that it’s fun,at least for me.
