game debate hardware scanner not working

Okay, so, I was trying to figure out if my old PC could handle this new game, right? I usually use this site, Game Debate, to check, and they have this little tool, the Hardware Scanner, that’s supposed to automatically detect your system specs. Super convenient, usually. But today, it just… wouldn’t. Work.

First, I went to the Game Debate site, like normal. I found the game I was interested in and clicked that “Can I Run It?” button. It prompts you to run the Hardware Scanner, so I clicked that too. Nothing. Just sat there.

I tried it a couple more times. Still nothing. Now, I’m starting to get a little annoyed. I thought, “Okay, maybe it’s my browser.” I’m usually on Chrome, so I switched over to Firefox. Tried it again. Nope. Still dead.

Then I thought, “Maybe it’s my extensions?”. I use all kind of extentions. So, I disabled all extensions. Tried again and still not working!

Troubleshooting Time!

  • Restart Everything: Classic IT move, right? I closed all my browser windows, even shut down my computer completely, and restarted it. Tried the scanner again… nothing.
  • Check for Updates: I made sure my browsers were up-to-date. Chrome and Firefox, both the latest versions. Still no luck.
  • Different Browser: Tried on edge, but still doesn’t work.

I even disable the Windows Security, and try all the step above. Sadly, Game Debate Hardware Scanner still refuses to work.
