genshin impact self insert fanfiction
Okay, so I’ve been diving deep into the world of Genshin Impact lately, like, REALLY deep. And I had this wild idea: What if I was in the game? You know, like, a self-insert fanfiction. I know, I know, it sounds a bit cringy, but hear me out! It’s been a super fun project.
Brainstorming My Character
First things first, I needed a character. Not just any character, but one that felt like a natural extension of, well, me. So I sat down with a notebook – yes, an actual, physical notebook – and started brainstorming.
I thought about my personality. I’m generally pretty laid-back but also fiercely loyal to my friends. And I’m a total nerd for history and lore, so that had to be a part of it. I wanted a character who could be both a good fighter and a source of knowledge.
Crafting the Backstory
After I figured out the personality stuff, I started working on a backstory. I didn’t want anything too over-the-top, you know? No chosen one or secret royalty stuff. Instead, I went with a more grounded approach.
My character, lets just call her “The Traveler’s Scribe” for now, comes from a long line of scholars. She’s spent her life studying ancient texts and traveling the world in search of lost knowledge. This eventually leads her to Teyvat, where she gets caught up in the main storyline. It’s a simple setup, but it felt right.

Choosing a Vision and Weapon
Next up was the fun part – choosing a Vision and a weapon! This took some serious thought. I mean, what element would I vibe with most? After much deliberation, I landed on Anemo.
Anemo, the power of wind, felt like a good fit for someone focused on knowledge and exploration. Plus, I love the idea of having supportive abilities. As for the weapon, I went with a catalyst. It just made sense for a scholar to use a book as a weapon, right?
Writing the Story
With all the character details sorted out, I finally started writing! And let me tell you, it was harder than I expected. Trying to weave my character into the existing story without breaking the lore was a real challenge.
I started by placing my character in Mondstadt during the Stormterror crisis. It seemed like a good starting point, and it gave me a chance to interact with some of my favorite characters, like Jean and Lisa. The first few chapters were basically just me trying to get a feel for the world and my character’s place in it.
Getting Feedback and Revising
Once I had a few chapters written, I decided to share them with a few close friends who also play Genshin. This was a bit nerve-wracking, but I figured they could give me some honest feedback.
And boy, did they! They pointed out some inconsistencies and plot holes I hadn’t even noticed. They also had some great suggestions for how to make my character more interesting. It was tough to hear some of the criticism, but it was super helpful.
So, I spent the next few weeks revising and rewriting. I fleshed out my character’s motivations, added some more depth to her interactions with the other characters, and generally just tried to make the story more engaging.
Continuing the Journey
I’m still working on the story, but it’s been an amazing experience so far. It’s given me a whole new appreciation for the world of Genshin Impact and the incredible characters that inhabit it. Plus, it’s been a really fun way to explore my own creativity.

Who knows where this fanfiction journey will take me? Maybe I’ll eventually share it online, or maybe it’ll just remain a personal project. Either way, I’m having a blast, and that’s all that really matters. It’s a fun and goofy thing I did, and I’m pretty happy with how it’s turning out.
