ender’s game book reviews
Okay, so I’ve been wanting to get into this whole “Ender’s Game” thing for a while now. You know, the book by Orson Scott Card. Everyone talks about it, says it’s a classic. So, I finally decided to give it a shot. First thing I did was grab the book. I went to my local bookstore – yeah, I’m old school like that, I like the smell of real books – and picked up a copy. It had this cool cover with a kid in some kind of space suit. Looked promising.
Then, I started reading. I tried to do it every night before bed, just a chapter or two. But, man, some nights I was just too tired. Work, you know? It kicks your butt. But I kept at it. Slowly but surely.
The beginning was a little slow. It’s all about this kid, Ender, who’s super smart and gets picked to go to this special school in space. They’re training these kids to fight aliens, these bug things called “Formics.” Sounds weird, right? But it gets better.
Getting into the Story
Once Ender got to Battle School, things really picked up. This is where they play these zero-gravity games, like laser tag but way more intense. I started to get sucked in, reading about the strategies and the competition. Ender’s a genius at this stuff, always thinking ahead. You start to root for him, even though he’s kind of a little jerk sometimes.
I had to put the book down a few times, it wasn’t always an easy read. But I kept going back to it. There are some pretty intense parts, especially when they start talking about war and what it does to people. Even kids.

My Thoughts on the Book
So, I finally finished it the other night. And wow. Just wow. That ending. I did not see that coming. I mean, I really didn’t. It makes you think about a lot of things, like what’s right and wrong, and how sometimes you can do terrible things for what you think are good reasons.
I can see why people say this book is a classic. It’s not just a sci-fi story about kids in space. It’s a lot deeper than that. It makes you think, and it stays with you. I’m still thinking about it, days later.
- What I Liked:
- The Battle School games were awesome.
- Ender’s a complex character.
- The ending was mind-blowing.
I definitely recommend “Ender’s Game” if you’re looking for something to read. It’s not always easy, but it’s worth it. Trust me. It was a heck of a ride and I’m glad I finally got around to reading it. Now, I think I’m gonna check out the sequel, “Speaker for the Dead.” Or might see if I can find that movie they made, was it any good? We’ll see.
