cascadia board game review
Today I tried out this game called Cascadia. It’s all about laying tiles and grabbing animal tokens, sounds simple enough, right?
So, I got the game and I noticed it’s kind of a nature-themed thing, which is pretty cool. I opened it up and started setting things up. At the start of the game, you gotta get all these tiles and tokens ready, which took a bit, but it wasn’t too bad.
The main idea is to match up the terrain on the tiles and place the animal tokens on them. You have to pick a tile and a token each turn, and there’s some thinking involved ’cause you want to get the most points. It says it is a puzzle game, I thought it would be easy, but boy was I wrong.
Playing the Game
- Choosing Tiles and Tokens: Every turn, I had to choose a terrain tile and an animal token.
- Building My Area: I tried to match the terrains and place the animals strategically. I placed the tiles and tokens down, trying to make the biggest habitats and get the most animals in there. It was kind of like putting together a puzzle, but with animals.
- Scoring Points: The game ends, and you count up your points based on how well you did with the terrains and animals.
It was fun trying to figure out the best way to place everything. Some turns were easy, but others really made me think. I can see why people like this game, it’s a good mix of easy and hard.

My Thoughts
I played a few rounds, and it was interesting each time. Even though it’s a simple game, there’s a lot of different ways to play. I didn’t win every time, but I still had a good time. No wonder you can find it on the Board Game Geek Top 100.
It’s a neat little game. It’s not too complicated, but it’s not boring either. It’s the kind of game you can play again and again. Plus, it’s kind of relaxing with the whole nature thing. Anyway, that’s my take on Cascadia. If you like puzzles and nature, you might want to check it out.
