epic games and huawei hardware
Hey everyone, it’s your boy back again with another tech adventure. Today’s story is all about trying to get Epic Games stuff, mainly Fortnite, working on my Huawei phone. You know, with all the drama between US companies and Huawei, it’s been a bit of a headache for us users. But where there’s a will, there’s a way, right?
So, first things first, I gotta check if my phone can even handle Fortnite. I’ve got a Huawei Y9 Prime, and apparently, I needed to see if it’s on the list of supported devices. The minimum specs I found were something like Android 8.0 or higher, 64 bit, and at least 4GB of RAM. My phone’s a bit old, but it seemed like it could fit the bill.
Next up, I learned that I could actually get Fortnite through Huawei’s own app store, AppGallery. That was a pleasant surprise! I thought it would be way more complicated. I dived into the AppGallery, searched for Fortnite, and guess what? It wasn’t there, but I did find the Epic Games app. Close enough!
I downloaded the Epic Games app. It was pretty quick. Once it was installed, I opened it up and there it was – Fortnite, staring right at me. I hit the download button faster than you can say “Victory Royale”.
- Download the Epic Games app from AppGallery.
- Install the app. It was a breeze, nothing too fancy.
- Launch the app and find Fortnite.
- Download and install Fortnite. This part took a while because, well, it’s a big game.
Once the download was finished, I launched the game, fingers crossed. And boom! It worked! I was so pumped, you have no idea. I mean, I’d heard rumors that Epic had tried to get Fortnite preinstalled on some Huawei phones, but then things got messy, and they couldn’t talk to Huawei anymore. It’s like a soap opera, honestly.

Troubleshooting Troubles
Now, it wasn’t all smooth sailing. I did run into a few crashes and errors here and there. It’s a “high-fidelity” game, as they say, so it’s pretty demanding on the hardware. My poor old Y9 Prime was definitely sweating. I had to tinker with the settings a bit, lower the graphics quality, and make sure no other apps were hogging resources in the background.
I also found some forums online with people sharing tips on how to troubleshoot these issues. Some folks were talking about updating the OS, clearing cache, and all that jazz. I tried a bunch of those things, and it did help a bit. It’s a bit of trial and error, you know?
But hey, at the end of the day, I managed to get Fortnite running on my Huawei phone. It’s not perfect, but it’s playable. And that’s a win in my book. It just goes to show that even with all the restrictions and challenges, we can still find ways to enjoy the things we love.
So, if you’re rocking a Huawei phone and you’re itching to drop into the Battle Bus, don’t give up hope. It might take a little bit of work, but it’s definitely doable. Just follow the steps I laid out, be prepared to troubleshoot a bit, and you’ll be racking up those Victory Royales in no time.
That’s all for today’s adventure, folks. Stay tuned for more tech shenanigans, and as always, game on!
