roblox crashed because of incompatible software
Today I wanted to play Roblox with my kids, but whenever I tried to start the game, it kept crashing. The error message said something about incompatible software, which was super vague and not helpful at all.
Figuring Out What Was Wrong
First, I made sure my computer was actually capable of running Roblox. It’s not exactly a high-end gaming PC, but it should have been able to handle it. So that wasn’t the issue.
Next, I checked if my graphics card drivers were up to date. I went to the manufacturer’s website, downloaded the latest drivers, and installed them. It took a while, but I figured it was worth a shot. Still, the game kept crashing.
Trying a Bunch of Stuff
I went through a bunch of other random things I found online:
- I updated Roblox itself. No luck.
- Cleared the Roblox cache. Nope.
- Tried running Roblox as an administrator. Still crashed.
- I even temporarily turned off my antivirus and closed all the other programs running in the background. Didn’t help.
- I lowered the graphics quality in the Roblox settings to the lowest possible. Didn’t make a difference.
At this point, I was getting pretty frustrated. I was about to give up, but then I decided to try one last thing.

Uninstalling and Reinstalling
I completely uninstalled Roblox from my computer. Then I restarted my PC, just to be safe. After the restart, I went to the Roblox website and downloaded the game again. I installed it from scratch.
It Worked!
And guess what? It finally worked! The game started up without any issues, and my kids and I were able to play together. I was so relieved.
It seems like the problem was some corrupted files in the original installation. Uninstalling and reinstalling got rid of those bad files, and now everything is running smoothly.
Running Roblox in Compatibility Mode
I also found that running Roblox in compatibility mode for an earlier version of Windows can sometimes fix these kinds of issues. I didn’t need to do that this time, but it’s something to keep in mind if you’re having similar problems.
Oh, and making sure Windows itself is up to date can also help. I checked that too, just to be thorough.
Anyway, I’m just glad I finally got it working. It was a pain, but now we can all enjoy playing Roblox together.
