eb games hardware trade in values
So, I’ve been thinking about upgrading my gaming setup for a while now. My old PS4 has been collecting dust, and I figured, why not see if I can trade it in for something newer? That’s when I stumbled upon this whole EB Games trade-in thing. Let me tell you, it was a bit of a journey, so I figured I’d share my experience.
First, I had to gather all my stuff. I had the PS4 console, a couple of controllers (one of them a bit wonky, but more on that later), and a stack of games I don’t even play anymore. I dusted everything off, made sure it was all in decent shape, and packed it up.
Next, I went on the EB Games website, you know, just to get a rough idea of what I could expect. I found a webpage that lists all the items’ trade-in value. It’s not an official website, but it lists the Canadian trade-in values of all systems at EB Games. I saw my PS4, the games, and tried to find their prices. They had everything there – XBOX One, XBOX 360, XBOX, PS4, PS3, PS Vita, PS2, PSP, Wii U, Wii, 3DS, DS, and GameCube, and even accessories, which was pretty cool.
Armed with this newfound knowledge, I headed to my local EB Games store. It’s important to note that you gotta bring some valid ID, which is kinda obvious when you think about it. I walked in, and a friendly guy behind the counter greeted me. I told him I wanted to trade in my stuff, and he started inspecting everything.
- Console Check: He looked over my PS4, checked all the ports, and made sure it turned on. No problems there, thankfully.
- Controller Drama: Now, about that wonky controller… Turns out, EB Games doesn’t accept broken or defective controllers. They resell them directly and don’t repair them. He said the working ones fetch $25. Bummer. I mean, it was pretty messed up, so I wasn’t too surprised.
- Game Time: He went through my games one by one, scanning each of them. I was curious about how they determined the value, and he explained that it varies depending on the game’s popularity, condition, and demand. I learned some old, common games might not be worth much, while others could fetch a decent price.
After what felt like an eternity (it was probably just 15 minutes), he gave me a total trade-in value. I found out that the prices there are pretty much the same as the other stores like Future Shop, Best Buy and The Source. It wasn’t exactly a fortune, but it was definitely better than nothing. I decided to go for it and traded everything in for store credit. I signed in to my EB World account to earn points. They even have a best trade price guarantee!
Now, I’m not saying you’ll get rich by trading in your old gear at EB Games. But, if you have some stuff lying around that you don’t use anymore, it’s definitely worth checking out. It’s a pretty straightforward process, and you can get some store credit to put towards something new. Just remember to bring your ID, make sure your stuff is in good condition, and don’t expect miracles when it comes to the trade-in values. And definitely don’t try to trade in that broken controller!
Anyway, that’s my EB Games trade-in story. I hope this helps some of you out there who are thinking about doing the same. Happy gaming!
