okami game review

So, I’ve been diving into this game called “Ōkami,” and let me tell you, it’s been quite the ride. I heard about it from some friends who know I’m into action-adventure games, and they were like, “Dude, you gotta check this out.” So, I did.

First off, I got the HD version, “Ōkami HD,” which I guess is a spruced-up version of the original. I started playing, and man, it’s like stepping into a beautiful, ancient Japanese painting. The whole vibe is just gorgeous. It’s got this unique art style that makes it stand out from other games.

I got into the story, and it’s pretty epic. It’s about 33 hours of gameplay if you’re just going through the main story. And I’m not a fast gamer. But if you’re like me and you love exploring every nook and cranny, it’s more like 50-plus hours. I spent like 53 hours to 100% complete it. Honestly, I lost track of time, exploring all the side quests and secrets. Finding those secrets, by the way, is super satisfying. It’s like the game rewards you for being curious without holding your hand too much.

Now, the gameplay itself? It’s a lot like “Zelda,” if you’ve ever played those games. But with its own twist, of course. You run around, solve puzzles, fight monsters, the whole shebang. I really enjoyed this part! One thing I didn’t enjoy as much was this character, Issun. He’s your tiny companion, and his dialogue can be a bit much. Especially towards female characters. It kind of took me out of the experience a few times, not gonna lie.

I also did a little digging since I like knowing what I’m getting into, especially with themes and stuff. Turns out, it’s rated T for Teen. It has some blood and gore, crude humor, you know, the usual. And there’s some suggestive content, but nothing too crazy. Just something to keep in mind. There’s alcohol and tobacco use mentioned, too.

Overall, I’ve really been enjoying “Ōkami.” It’s a solid game with a lot to offer, especially if you’re into beautiful art, engaging stories, and that sense of adventure. Just be prepared to deal with Issun’s antics. I finished it a week ago. But I would say, if you’re looking for something different yet familiar, give “Ōkami” a shot. It’s a gem.
