need for speed rivals game review
Okay, so I’ve been diving into Need for Speed Rivals lately, and let me tell you, it’s been a wild ride! I remember hearing about this game a while back when it first came out, and it got some pretty decent reviews, like “Best Racing Game” from the Game Critics Awards. So, I finally decided to give it a shot.
First off, I downloaded the game. The process was smooth, no hiccups there. I launched it, and boom! I was thrown into this massive open world. The graphics? Pretty slick, even by today’s standards.
I started with the career mode. You can choose to be a racer or a cop, which is cool. I went with the racer first, because, who doesn’t love to go fast? The races are intense, man. The adrenaline rush you get when you’re speeding through the streets, dodging traffic, and trying to outrun the cops is something else.
Here’s what I really enjoyed:
- Intense Cop Chases: These are seriously heart-pounding. You’ve got all sorts of gadgets and weapons to escape or take down the cops. It’s like being in a Fast and Furious movie.
- Huge Open World: The map is pretty big, and there’s a lot to explore. I spent hours just driving around, discovering new areas and shortcuts.
- Online Play: I jumped into a few online races, and it was a blast. Racing against real people adds a whole new level of competition.
But it’s not all sunshine and rainbows. There are a few things that bugged me.

- Limited Activities: Besides the main campaign, there isn’t a whole lot to do. It gets a bit repetitive after a while.
- Small Car Roster: Compared to some other racing games, the selection of cars is kinda limited. I wish there were more options to choose from.
After playing as a racer for a while, I switched to the cop side. It’s a completely different experience. Now, you’re the one chasing down the racers, using EMPs, roadblocks, and all that cool stuff. It’s fun, but I still prefer being on the other side of the law.
I also did some research and found out that it had been reviewed by 58 critics. That’s a lot of opinions, and most of them were positive. I can see why.
My overall impression?
Need for Speed Rivals is a solid racing game. It’s not perfect, but it’s definitely fun. If you’re into arcade-style racing with intense cop chases, you’ll probably enjoy it. If you want a more realistic experience like Gran Turismo or Forza, this might not be your cup of tea. But for a casual player like me, it’s a great way to kill some time and get my adrenaline fix. I remember there was even some buzz around the game back at E3 2013, which is pretty cool. It’s not the newest game on the block, but it still holds up pretty well.
So yeah, that’s my take on Need for Speed Rivals. Have you guys played it? What did you think? Let me know in the comments!
