jumanji board game review

Alright, so the other day, I picked up this Jumanji board game. You know, from that movie? I’ve always been a sucker for board games, and this one caught my eye. It’s the Deluxe version from Spin Master.

First thing I did was gather a few buddies. We needed at least two players, but four is where it’s at, trust me. We opened the box, and man, this thing looks just like the one in the movie. Pretty neat, right?

Getting Started

  • We set up the board in the middle of the table.
  • Each of us picked a player piece and placed it at the start.
  • We found the dice and the little decoder thingy for the riddles.

So, the whole point of the game is to make it to the center of the board, just like in the movie, escaping all sorts of jungle craziness. Each turn, you roll the dice, move your piece, and draw a challenge card. Now, these challenges, they’re a mixed bag.

Playing the Game

  • Some cards have riddles that you gotta figure out using that decoder.
  • Other times, it’s a rescue mission where you gotta help another player escape some made-up danger.
  • And of course, there are times where you just gotta run from whatever jungle beastie the game throws at you.

We spent a good hour or so playing. It was a blast. We were laughing, shouting, and generally having a good time. It’s a cooperative game, so we were all in it together, which is a nice change of pace from those cutthroat games where you’re trying to bankrupt your friends.

Wrapping Up

  • We finally made it to the center of the board.
  • Everyone was pretty stoked.
  • We decided to play another round right after.

Honestly, this Jumanji game is a solid choice for a game night. It’s not too complicated, but it’s engaging enough to keep everyone entertained. Plus, it’s just fun to pretend you’re in the movie, even if it’s just for an hour. If you’re looking for something new to play with your friends or family, I’d say give this one a shot. It’s simple, it’s fun, and it won’t break the bank. And hey, who knows, maybe you’ll even get hooked like I did!
