download elgato game capture hardware drivers

Okay, so I needed to get the drivers for my Elgato Game Capture thingy. I’ve got the HD60 X model, and I use it to record my gameplay.

First, I went to the Elgato website to find the downloads. They have this page with all their different software and drivers. I made sure to grab the 4K Capture Utility software, which I guess is what you need for the HD60 X. It wasn’t super obvious, but I did find a note saying you needed at least version 1.7.12 of the 4K Capture Utility and some specific driver version, I think it was 1.1.0.202.7 or newer, and for the firmware, it was version 23.11.29.

I downloaded the software and installed it. Pretty straightforward, just clicked through the installer like you normally do.

  • First try: After it was installed, I plugged in my Elgato to a USB port, but it didn’t seem to work right away. My computer didn’t recognize it or something.
  • Second try: I unplugged it and tried a different USB port. Still no luck.
  • Third try: I figured maybe some other software was messing with it, so I closed out of everything else I had open. Still nothing.

Then, I remembered reading something about uninstalling drivers and reinstalling. I went into the Device Manager thing on my computer and uninstalled anything related to Elgato. Then I restarted my computer.

After the restart, I ran the installer for the 4K Capture Utility again. This time, when I plugged in my Elgato, my computer recognized it! I opened up the 4K Capture Utility, and I could see the video feed from my console. It worked!

So yeah, it took a bit of fiddling around, but I finally got the drivers installed and my Elgato working. If you’re having trouble, try uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers and restarting your computer. That seemed to do the trick for me.

Anyways, hope this helps someone out there. Happy gaming!
