Yo, what’s this Genshin Impact thing all the young folks are talking about? Smash or pass, they say. What’s that even mean? Sounds kinda rough to me, smashing things. I ain’t about that life.

But my grandkids, they play this game all the time. Bright colors, pretty folks running around. I see them on that phone, tapping away. They say, “Grandma, look at this character! Smash or pass?” I just nod and smile. Don’t understand half of what they’re saying these days.

Smash or Pass: What’s the Deal?

So, this smash or pass thing. They show me a picture, some fella or lady from the game. They ask, “Would you smash or pass?” I think they mean, do I like them or not? But “smash” sounds so harsh. Like breaking something. Maybe I’m too old for these newfangled games. I always say pass.

These Genshin Impact folks, they got some funny names. Zhongli, Raiden, Nahida. What kind of names are those? Back in my day, we had names like John and Mary. Simple names. Easy to remember. These new names, they’re like tongue twisters.

And the way they dress! My goodness. Some of them, they barely got any clothes on. Running around, fighting monsters, half-naked. In my day, we wore proper clothes. Covered up. Kept warm. These young folks today, they’ll catch a cold, running around like that. Especially Ganyu, she needs more clothes.

Genshin Impact Characters

• Venti: This one, he’s a little fella. Looks like a troublemaker. Always grinning. Reminds me of that mischievous boy from down the street. Always up to no good. Pass.
• Kazuha: He’s got a nice face, I’ll give him that. But he looks kinda sad. Like he’s carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders. Maybe he needs a good meal and a hug. I don’t know about smash, but maybe a pat on the back.
• Xiao: Oh, this one’s a bit scary. All dark and gloomy. Looks like he hasn’t slept in days. And that mask! What’s he hiding? I don’t trust him. Definitely a pass. Big pass on Xiao.

They got some strong-looking fellas in this game, too. Itto, they call one of them. Big muscles. Looks like he could lift a cow. But he also looks kinda dumb. Like he wouldn’t know which way is up. Smash? I don’t think so. He’d probably break something. Or someone. Pass.

And the ladies! Some of them, they look like they could handle themselves in a fight. Beidou, she’s got an eyepatch. Tough-looking woman. Nilou, she’s a dancer, pretty thing. But would I smash? Nah. They look like they got enough going on in their lives. Don’t need me smashing around.

Genshin Impact: Too Much For Me

This Genshin Impact, it’s a lot to take in. So many characters. So much going on. All these colors and lights and sounds. It’s a bit overwhelming for an old lady like me. I prefer things simple. A nice cup of tea, a good book, maybe some knitting. That’s my kind of fun.

But the grandkids, they love it. They’re always talking about it. “Grandma, did you see the new update?” “Grandma, I got a new character!” “Grandma, smash or pass?” They’re so excited about it. And that’s what matters, I guess. That they’re having fun. Even if I don’t understand it. I don’t understand HoYoLAB either.

Maybe this smash or pass thing, it’s just a young people thing. Like those dances they do. The floss, the dab, whatever they’re called. I don’t get those either. But they seem to enjoy it. So who am I to judge? If they want to smash or pass these Genshin Impact folks, let them. As long as they’re happy.

Me, I’ll stick to my tea and my knitting. And maybe I’ll ask them to show me those Genshin Impact characters again. Maybe I’ll try to learn their names. Even if they are a bit strange. It’s nice to see them so excited about something. Even if it is a bit too much for this old lady to handle. This Genshin Impact Tier List thing, also don’t make sense to me.

This whole smash or pass is not my thing. All these Genshin Impact characters, I would pass. Keep things peaceful, that is what I always say.
