diy hardware dex game

Well, let me tell you, this Dex game, it ain’t like nothin’ I ever seen before. My grandson, he’s always on that computer thing, and he showed me this the other day. Said it’s called a “DIY hardware dex game” or somethin’ like that. Fancy words for an old gal like me. But I gotta say, it’s kinda interestin’.

This here game, it’s like one of them adventure stories. You gotta go around, doin’ things for folks. They call ’em “quests”. Now, back in my day, a quest was goin’ to the next town over to get some sugar for makin’ a pie. This here’s a whole different kind of quest. You gotta find things, help people out, that sort of thing.

Seems like you gotta have somethin’ called a “Dex – Extra Outfits” DLC. Don’t ask me what DLC stands for. Some newfangled acronym, I reckon. But you gotta have it to get this one quest, this “DIY Hardware” one. Sounds like somethin’ my late husband woulda been good at. He was always tinkerin’ with things, fixin’ up the tractor, buildin’ fences.

They say you gotta go to some “Industrial Zone”. I guess that’s like the old mill down by the creek, where they used to grind the corn. ‘Cept in this game, it’s probably got all sorts of machines and whatnot. Gotta find a door, they say. A door next to somethin’ called “Slicers”. Now that just sounds dangerous, don’t it? Reminds me of that time old man Hemlock got his hand caught in the thresher. Lost a couple fingers, he did.

There’s also somethin’ called “Main Quests” and “Side Quests”. Like the main road through town and them little dirt paths that go off to the farms. You gotta do the main ones, I guess, to get to the end of the story. And them side ones, well, they’re just extra. Like when I used to make extra biscuits for the church social. Always good to have a little somethin’ extra, I always say.

This whole game, it’s got a “cyberpunk” theme. Now, I ain’t never heard that word before, but it sounds kinda rough and tumble, don’t it? Like them motorcycle gangs that used to come through town, causin’ a ruckus. And it’s an “open world”, whatever that means. Guess you can just wander around wherever you please, like a chicken that got out of the coop.

This whole thing is supposed to be retro. I don’t know what they mean by “retro”, but the pictures remind me of that old TV we had, with the rabbit ears. You had to wiggle them just right to get a good picture. It got this style from the ’90s. I remember the ’90s. That’s when my youngest, bless her heart, went off to college. Time sure does fly, don’t it?

Oh, and they say you should have somethin’ called a “Mirrorshade Cloak”. Sounds like somethin’ out of one of them fairy tales, don’t it? And some “devices”. Lord knows what those are. Maybe like that fancy calculator my grandson uses for his schoolwork. This game has a lot of things, that’s for sure. A lot of things for an old lady like me to try to understand.

Here’s a little list of things I think you need:

  • That Dex – Extra Outfits DLC thing
  • The DIY Hardware quest, whatever that is
  • Need to get to that Industrial Zone place
  • Maybe that Mirrorshade Cloak thing and some of them devices

This Dex game is developed by some company, Dreadlocks Ltd. Sounds like a bunch of hippies, if you ask me. But they sure made a complicated game. All these things you gotta do, places you gotta go. It’s a lot to keep track of. Like tryin’ to remember all the birthdays of my grandkids. There’s a whole bunch of ’em, you see.

You know, it’s a funny thing. Back in my day, we didn’t have all these fancy computer games. We had to make our own fun. We’d play hopscotch, or tag, or just sit on the porch and tell stories. But I guess times change. The young folks today, they like these video games. And who am I to say it’s wrong? It keeps ’em outta trouble, I suppose. And maybe, just maybe, it’s a little bit of fun.

This whole DIY Hardware Dex game thing, it’s a mystery to me. But it’s interestin’ to see what the young folks are up to these days. It’s like a whole different world in that computer screen. A world with Industrial Zones and Slicers and Mirrorshade Cloaks. A world that’s a far cry from my little farm, that’s for sure. But hey, maybe an old dog can learn new tricks. Or at least watch her grandson play and try to make sense of it all.
