Well, let me tell ya ’bout this Escape Game place, the one they got over in that there American Dream mall in New Jersey. Folks been talkin’, so I figured I’d go see what all the fuss is about. Heard it’s supposed to be one of them “escape rooms,” like them puzzles they got on the TV, only you’re in it for real.

Now, I ain’t no spring chicken, so I took my grandkids along. They were itchin’ to go, y’know, always lookin’ for somethin’ to do besides starin’ at them phones all day. So, we went on down to this American Dream place, big as all outdoors it is, and found this Escape Game spot. Right there inside the mall, can’t miss it.

So, what’s it all about? Well, they lock you in a room, see? Not a real lock, I don’t think, but it feels real enough. And then you gotta figure out how to get out. They give you a story, somethin’ ’bout a mission or a treasure or somethin’, and you gotta find clues and solve puzzles to get yourself out before the time runs out. They give you an hour, which seems like a long time, but lemme tell ya, it goes by fast!

First off, it ain’t like no video game. These young’uns, they think they know it all ’cause they play them games all day. But this here’s different. You gotta touch things, look around, really use your brain. No buttons to push or joysticks to wiggle. It’s all real stuff, like papers and locks and who-knows-what-else. My grandkids, they were surprised, y’know? Thought it’d be easy peasy.

We tried one of them rooms, I forget the name now, somethin’ ’bout a prison, I think. Anyway, there we were, locked in, and we had to start lookin’ around. There was all sorts of things in there, pictures, books, weird symbols. At first, it was kinda confusin’, like a chicken with its head cut off, runnin’ around in circles. But then we started workin’ together, my grandkids and me. They were good at findin’ the little things, and I could figure out some of the harder puzzles ’cause, well, I’ve seen a thing or two in my life, y’know.

• It’s all ’bout teamwork. Can’t do it alone, that’s for sure. You gotta talk to each other, share what you find, and put your heads together to figure things out. Even this old lady had to pitch in! And that’s what I liked about it. It got us talkin’ and laughin’ and workin’ together, somethin’ we don’t do enough of these days.
• The puzzles, they ain’t easy, but they ain’t too hard neither. Just right, I’d say. Some of ’em were real head-scratchers, but we figured ’em out eventually. And when we did, it felt like we’d won the lottery! Made us feel real smart, even though I know I ain’t no genius or anything.
• And the time, well, like I said, it goes by fast. One minute you’re lookin’ at a clue, the next you’re hearin’ the buzzer and they’re tellin’ you time’s up. We almost didn’t make it out, but we did, with just a few minutes to spare. Whew! That was a close one.

So, what do I think about this Escape Game place? Well, I’d say it’s pretty darn good. It’s somethin’ different, somethin’ fun, and somethin’ that gets you thinkin’. It’s a good way to spend an hour with your family, or your friends, or whoever you wanna go with. And it ain’t just for young folks neither. This old lady had a good time, so I reckon just about anyone would.

I heard some folks sayin’ it’s one of the best escape rooms around, and I can see why. The rooms are well-designed, the puzzles are clever, and the staff, they’re real nice and helpful. They give you hints if you get stuck, but they don’t give you the answers right away, which is good. Makes you work for it.

Now, I ain’t been to every escape room in the country, mind you, but I’ve been to a few, and this one at the American Dream, it’s up there with the best of ’em. So, if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ to do, somethin’ that’s a little bit different and a whole lot of fun, I’d say give this Escape Game place a try. You might just surprise yourself.

People are sayin’ it’s amazing. I read some reviews, you know, them things on the internet, and lots of folks were sayin’ how much they liked it. Talkin’ ’bout how it was exhilarating and the best escape room they ever been to. And I gotta say, I agree with ’em. It was a good time, that’s for sure. My grandkids, they loved it too, and they’re already askin’ when we can go back and try another room.
