Genshin Impact, what is it?

Well, lemme tell ya, Genshin Impact, it’s some kinda game, ya know? Like them young’uns always playin’ on their phones and computers. My grandkid, he’s always yellin’ about it. Says it’s an “open-world action RPG.” Don’t ask me what that means, sounds fancy though. He says it’s made by some company, HoYoverse or somethin’. They put it out on the computer, the phones, all that stuff. He’s always tappin’ away, lookin’ at these cartoon characters fightin’ and doin’ magic.

Characters and stuff

Now, this game, it’s got a whole bunch of characters. My grandkid, he’s always talkin’ ’bout “Neelu” and “Silver Wolf” and some others with names I can’t even pronounce. Seems like there’s a lot of ’em, each one with their own special powers and moves. He showed me once, one lady had a big sword, another could shoot arrows, and one little fella was throwin’ bombs. It’s all very colorful and flashy, like them cartoons they play on TV.

• Lots of characters: He says there’s a whole bunch of ‘em, boys and girls, young and old, all sorts.
• Powers and skills: Each character got their own thing they do, fightin’ and magic and whatnot.
• Building and stuff: Apparently, you can make your characters stronger, give ‘em better weapons, all that. He calls it “builds” or somethin’.

Who plays this game anyway?

Well, from what I gather, it’s just about everyone. My grandkid says even old folks play it, though I don’t see how. He told me that it’s pretty even, boys and girls, young and old. Said somethin’ about 55% being boys and 45% girls, like that matters. And the ages, well, he says some young’uns play it, but a lot of grown-ups too. Average age, 35 he said. Imagine that, grown folks spendin’ their time playin’ these games. I guess it keeps ’em busy, though.

Pictures and places

This game, it’s got lots of pretty places to look at. My grandkid was showin’ me these pictures he took, said he used somethin’ called a “Kamera.” Got it from doin’ some “World Quest” called “Snapshots.” Fancy names for everything, I tell ya. He showed me pictures of mountains and rivers, big cities and little villages. One place he showed me was called “Bubu Pharmacy” in “Liyue Harbor.” Sounded like a place you’d go to get your cough medicine, but I guess it’s important in the game.

More than just a game, eh?

Now, I don’t get it, but my grandkid spends hours on this Genshin Impact thing. He says it’s not just about fighting; there’s stories and exploring and all sorts of things. He’s always talking about “quests” and “adventures” and meeting new characters. It’s like a whole ‘nother world in that little phone of his. He even watches videos of other people playing, these things called “animations” or “JygreAnimation” somethin’ like that, about the “Grandmaster of the Knights.” I tell ya, it’s a whole lot of fuss over a game. But I guess if it keeps him happy and outta trouble, then it can’t be all that bad. He gets excited and rambles on ‘bout all the stories and adventures. He told me that these things are in parts, like part one and part two. Kids these days, always with their stories and their games.

What’s all the fuss about akt?

And then there’s this “akt” thing he keeps mentioning. Every now and then, he’ll be searching for “akt Neelu Genshin Impact” or “akt Silver Wolf Honkai Impact.” I asked him what it means, but he just mumbled something about fan art and pictures. Seems like folks who like the game also like to draw their own pictures of the characters, sometimes in different clothes or situations. He says it’s all part of the fun, expressing their love for the game in different ways. I don’t know, sounds like a whole lot of work to me, but to each their own I guess.

So, that’s what I know about this Genshin Impact. It’s a game with lots of characters, pretty pictures, and folks of all ages playing it. They fight and explore and draw pictures, and it seems to keep ‘em entertained. My grandkid, he loves it, so I guess it’s alright. Me, I’ll stick to my TV shows and my knitting, but these young’uns, they got their own ways of havin’ fun. And that “akt,” well, it’s just another way they show their love for the game, I reckon.
