Alright, alright, let’s talk about this “Genshin Impact x Reader” thing all them youngsters are goin’ on about. I hear it’s somethin’ fierce popular on that Tumblr thingamajig.
So, from what I gather, it’s like them stories where you, yeah you, get to be right there in the game with all them pretty anime characters. Imagine that! You wake up, and instead of havin’ to feed the chickens, you’re havin’ breakfast with… what’s his name? Kinich? Some kid, I reckon. And his mama’s cookin’ up a storm, just like I used to before my arthritis kicked in. Good times, good times.
Now, they got all sorts of fellas in this game, lemme tell ya. There’s this Thoma fella, a real charmer I bet. And a detective named Heizou, always snoopin’ around. Then there’s this Ayato fella, sounds like a fancy pants if you ask me. And Kazuha, probably one of them wanderin’ types, always lookin’ for trouble… or maybe a good time, who knows? These young folks, they write stories about you and these fellas, all lovey-dovey and such. Friends to lovers, they call it, or sometimes enemies to lovers, which sounds like a whole lotta squabblin’ to me.
One fella they talk about a lot is this Zhongli fella. Sounds like a proper gentleman at first, all calm and collected. But I bet he’s got a wild side, just like my ol’ man did, bless his soul. He’d be all polite in public, then come home and holler for his supper like the world was endin’. Men, they’re all the same, no matter if they’re real or just pixels on a screen.
Then there’s this Xiao fella. He’s been around the block, seen a lot of faces come and go. But you, oh you’re somethin’ special, apparently. Maybe you remind him of someone, or maybe you just got that somethin’ special. Who knows? It’s all make-believe anyway, but it’s fun to think about, I guess. Gets lonely out here on the farm sometimes, so a little fantasy ain’t gonna hurt nobody.

They even got warnings sometimes, these stories. Like, “reader is a bit off their rocker” or “things are gonna get messy later on.” Sounds like a soap opera to me! My Agnes used to watch them things all day long, cryin’ and laughin’ like a fool. But hey, if it makes you happy, who am I to judge?
I saw someone mentionin’ holidays, too. Like a special story for Christmas or somethin’. That’s nice, I always liked the holidays. Reminds me of when the whole family would come over, kids runnin’ around, food everywhere… It’s good to have somethin’ to look forward to, even if it’s just a story on the internet.
And this “masterlist” thing? Sounds like a big ol’ cookbook, but for stories instead of recipes. A place where you can find all the different stories about you and all them Genshin characters. Clever, them young folks, I gotta give ’em that.
So, yeah, that’s what I make of this “Genshin Impact x Reader” business. It’s just folks usin’ their imaginations, writin’ stories about bein’ friends or more-than-friends with them pretty cartoon characters. Nothin’ wrong with that, as long as it ain’t causin’ no trouble. Keeps ’em busy, keeps ’em happy, and who knows, maybe it even teaches ’em a thing or two about love and life. Though I reckon life ain’t got nothin’ to do with magic and sword fightin’, but what do I know? I’m just an old woman, tryin’ to make sense of the world, one Tumblr post at a time.
Anyways, it is what it is. Just have some fun, that’s what I always said. Enjoy yourself, and don’t go gettin’ into no trouble like them characters always seem to. And remember, even if you’re just a reader in a story, you’re still the star of your own show.
