common hardware compnies used in game systems
Well, let me tell ya somethin’ about these here game contraptions, the ones the young’uns are always fiddlin’ with. They got all sorts of gizmos inside, and some names keep poppin’ up, ya know? Like, uh… Nintendo. Yeah, that’s a big one. Been around longer than my ol’ rooster, seems like. Them Japanese fellas, they make all sorts of games and whatnots.
And then there’s this Xbox thing. My grandson, he’s always yellin’ about it. Says it’s got some kinda “Windows” thingy inside. Sounds fancy, but I reckon it’s just a bunch of wires and lights. You know, like them Christmas lights, but they do more than just twinkle.
Now, when you’re talkin’ about these game machines, you gotta think about what makes ’em tick. It ain’t just magic, ya know? They need special parts. Like, uh… “graphics cards”. That’s what my grandson says. Says it makes the pictures look real pretty. He keeps blabberin’ about “Nvidia” and “AMD”. Sounds like a bunch of gibberish to me, but he says they’re important.
- Nvidia: Makes these “graphics cards,” I guess. Makes the games look good. My grandson says the “RTX 3000” ones are the bees knees. Whatever that means.
- AMD: Another one of them “graphics card” makers. They got these “Radeon RX 6000” thingamajigs. Sounds powerful, like a tractor engine, but smaller, I reckon.
But it ain’t just about the pictures, ya see? It’s about how the whole thing works together. My grandson says there are different kinds of games, and some need more power than others. Like, uh, those shootin’ games, they need a lot of juice, he says. But them puzzle games, they don’t need so much. It’s all a bit confusing, if you ask me.
And there’s all sorts of other stuff too. Consoles, that’s what they call ’em. Like, uh, the PlayStation thing. Another one of them boxes with wires and lights. And then there’s the computers. My grandson says you can play games on them too, but they’re for more than just games. You can do your writin’ and your figurin’ on ’em too. Sounds like a lot of work, if you ask me.

And then there’s all the extra stuff, you know? The “assessories” as they call ’em. Them controllers, the headphones, all that jazz. My grandson’s got a whole pile of ’em. Looks like a junk heap to me, but he says he needs ’em all.
You know, back in my day, we didn’t have all this fancy stuff. We had sticks and rocks, and we made our own fun. But these young’uns, they need their screens and their buttons. Can’t hardly get ’em to go outside and play anymore. They’re always glued to them game contraptions, yellin’ at the TV and mashin’ them buttons. It’s a whole different world, I tell ya. Game stores, they’re everywhere now, sellin’ these things like hotcakes. Makes ya wonder what the world’s comin’ to.
So, yeah, that’s what I know about these game companies and their gizmos. Nintendo, Xbox, Nvidia, AMD… A bunch of names that don’t mean much to me, but they sure seem important to them young’uns. And don’t forget all them parts like them graphics cards and such, they make the games go. And then there are the consoles and computers and even them whatchamacallits, assessories. It’s a lot to take in, I tell ya. But that’s the way it is these days. Everything’s gotta be plugged in and powered up. Makes an old woman tired just thinkin’ about it.
