good ds strategy games
Alright, let’s talk about them good strategy games, you know, the ones for that DS thingy. My grandson, he’s always fiddlin’ with that stuff. Says there’s all sorts of games, but the ones that make you think, them’s the good ones. He calls ’em “strategy” games. Sounds fancy, but it just means you gotta plan things out, like plannin’ what to plant in the garden, but, you know, with more fightin’ and such.
So, what makes a good strategy game on the DS? Well, first off, it gotta be easy to understand. I ain’t got time for no complicated nonsense. You gotta be able to pick it up and figure it out without readin’ a whole book. You know, like learnin’ to bake a pie, you just watch your grandma a few times and then you get the hang of it. Same thing with games, I reckon.
Second thing is, it gotta be fun! I mean, what’s the point of playin’ somethin’ if it ain’t gonna make you smile or get your heart thumpin’ a little? My grandson, he gets all worked up playin’ these games, grinnin’ and yellin’ at the screen. That’s how you know it’s a good one.
- It’s gotta be easy to learn.
- It’s gotta be fun to play.
- It should make you think, but not too hard.
Now, they tell me there’s this game called “Civilization.” Sounds mighty important, don’t it? Like buildin’ a whole country or somethin’. My grandson says it’s about buildin’ up your own little world, makin’ cities and fightin’ off other folks who want your stuff. He says in the newer ones, you gotta spread your cities out, make ’em work together. Kinda like how we used to help each other out durin’ harvest time. Everybody had their job, and we all worked together to get it done. Sounds like good sense to me.
Then there’s these “Advance Wars” games. Now, that sounds more like my kinda thing! Fightin’ and plannin’ and all that. My grandson says you gotta move your little soldiers around, like chess pieces, but with tanks and planes. He says it’s made by the same folks who made another game called “Fire Emblem”, I reckon them folks know how to make a good strategy game. You gotta think ahead, outsmart your enemy. Reminds me of that time old man Johnson tried to sneak his cow into my pasture. I saw him comin’ a mile away and chased him right back where he belonged! You gotta be sharp, that’s for sure.

They don’t make new games for that DS no more. My grandson says they stopped makin’ ‘em a long time ago, back in 2014, I think. Said the last game was somethin’ about a big hero and a bay. He says they moved on to new things, new game machines and such. But that don’t mean them old games ain’t good no more. A good game is a good game, no matter how old it is. Like a good quilt, it keeps ya warm for years and years.
My grandson also said you can still play all them old DS games on somethin’ called a DSi. Said it’s like the DS but a little newer or somethin’. Sounds like them city folks always tryin’ to sell you somethin’ new, even if the old stuff works just fine.
Now, I ain’t no expert on these video games, but I know what I like. I like somethin’ that’s gonna keep me entertained, somethin’ that’s gonna make me use my brain a little. And from what I hear, them good strategy games on the DS, they do just that. They make you think, they make you plan, and they make you feel like you accomplished somethin’ when you finally win. And that, to me, sounds like a pretty good way to spend an afternoon.
So if you’re lookin’ for some good clean fun, somethin’ to keep your mind sharp, go find yourself one of them old DS thingies and get to playin’ some strategy games. Just remember to take a break every now and then, your eyes will thank ya. And don’t forget to eat your vegetables! That’s important too, you know.
And remember, a good strategy game is like a good stew: it takes time to simmer, but it’s worth the wait.
