check my hardware for games
Well, hello there! So, you wanna know if your ol’ computer can run them fancy games, huh? Alright, let’s figure this thing out. It ain’t rocket science, I tell ya. Back in my day, we didn’t have none of this computer stuff, but even an old woman like me can learn a thing or two.
First thing’s first, you gotta find out what them game makers say you need. It’s like a recipe, you see? You need certain things to bake a cake, and you need certain things to play a game. They call ‘em “system requirements”. Sounds fancy, but it just means what your computer needs to have to make the game work. You go to that there internet place, where they sell the games. Look around for the game you want, and somewhere on that page, they’ll tell you what you need.
Now, they might give you two sets of numbers. One’s the “minimum”, that’s the least you gotta have to make the game run at all, even if it’s a bit choppy. The other’s the “recommended”. That’s what you want if you wanna play the game smooth and pretty-like. Like butter on hot bread, you know?
- They’ll talk about things like “CPU speed”. That’s how fast your computer thinks. They measure it in something called “GHz”. The bigger the number, the faster it thinks.
- Then there’s “RAM”. That’s like your computer’s short-term memory. The more RAM, the more things your computer can remember at once. They measure that in “GB”. More is better, just like more biscuits at breakfast.
- And don’t forget about the “graphics card”. That’s what makes the pictures look good. They got all sorts of names and numbers for them, and it can get confusing real quick. But the game folks will tell you what kind you need.
Now, if you’re like me and don’t know a gigabyte from a groundhog, there are some websites that can help you out. There’s this one called “Can You Run It”. Sounds like something I’d ask my grandson, bless his heart. You go there, and it’ll check your computer for you. It’s like magic! They got another one too, called “System Requirements Lab”. Same kinda deal. They just look at your computer and tell you if you’re good to go.
Some folks like to do what they call “stress testing”. Sounds like a recipe for a heart attack to me, but it just means they push their computer to the limit to see what it can handle. They got programs for that too, one for each part of your computer. But honestly, that sounds like a whole lotta fuss to me.

There are other websites too. Some of ‘em will give your computer a score, like a test in school. They compare it to other computers and tell you how many games it can run. They call it “PCGameBenchmark” or something like that. And then there’s this “My Computer Details” thing, which tells you all about your computer’s parts. That’s helpful if you need to know what kind of processor or graphics card you have. And some places will even “rate your PC”, just like they rate the cows at the county fair, I reckon.
So, there you have it. No need to be a computer whiz to figure this out. Just find them system requirements, see what your computer’s got, and maybe use one of them websites if you get stuck. Now go on and play your games! Just don’t forget to take a break and get some fresh air every now and then. Sitting in front of that screen all day ain’t good for you, I tell ya. And remember, if an old woman like me can figure it out, so can you.
