best ww2 strategy games for pc
Alright, let’s talk about them best WW2 strategy games for PC, you know, the ones where you gotta think a bit, not just shoot everything that moves. I ain’t no fancy gamer girl, but I do like a good game that makes you scratch your head sometimes.
First off, there’s this Company of Heroes 3. Folks say it’s the bee’s knees, the best of the best WW2 games. Now, I ain’t played it myself, but my grandson, he’s always yappin’ about it. Says it’s got all sorts of tanks and soldiers and you gotta plan your attacks real careful-like. Sounds like a real brain teaser to me.
Then there’s this other one, Steel Division 2. Came out a while back, in 2019 I think. My nephew, he’s a real whiz with these games, he says it’s fast-paced, lots of action. You gotta be quick on the draw, know what you’re doin’. Not for the faint of heart, that’s for sure.
- War Thunder
Now, this one’s a bit different. It’s free, which is always nice, you know, saving a few pennies. And it’s got all sorts of planes and tanks, from all them countries that fought in the war. America, Germany, Russia, the whole lot. You can fly them planes, drive them tanks, even sail boats, I hear. Sounds like a hoot!
My grandson also keeps goin’ on and on about this Call of Duty stuff. He plays a bunch of ‘em. Says there’s Call of Duty, Call of Duty: United Offensive, Call of Duty II, and Call of Duty World at War. Plus, some other ones called Medal of Honor: Frontline and Rising Sun. Lordy, that’s a lot of Call of Duty! He says they’re all good for shootin’ and whatnot, but I reckon some of ’em got some strategy in ’em too. You gotta plan where you’re goin’, who you’re shootin’ at. Not just runnin’ around like a chicken with its head cut off.

And get this, there’s even a free one called TripleA. Free is good, right? I don’t know much about it, but free is always worth a try. Maybe it’s one of them simple ones, good for us old folks who ain’t got the reflexes of a cat no more.
Someone once told me about a real complicated game called, uh… something about North Africa. It came out way back in 1978, even before my kids were born! They said it takes like 1,500 hours to play! Can you believe that? 1,500 hours! Who’s got that kinda time? Not me, that’s for sure. I got laundry to do, dishes to wash, grandkids to feed. I ain’t got time for no 1,500-hour game.
Then there’s this game called Men of War, or somethin’ like that. My grandson says it’s his favorite, especially the one with the Brits and maybe the Japanese. Sounds like it got lots of different armies you can play, which is always fun. Keeps things interesting, you know?
And of course, there are a whole bunch of other strategy games out there. Crusader Kings III, Offworld Trading Company, XCOM 2, Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak, Total War: Warhammer II, Civilization VI, Company of Heroes 2: Ardennes Assault, Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2. Lordy, there’s just so many! Makes your head spin, it does. But hey, that just means there’s somethin’ for everyone, right? Whether you like tanks or planes, fast action or slow thinkin’, there’s a WW2 strategy game out there for you.
So, if you’re lookin’ for a good game to play, one that’ll make you think a bit, give some of these WW2 strategy games a try. Just don’t blame me if you get hooked and spend all day playin’! And remember, it’s all about havin’ fun. Don’t get too stressed out if you lose. Just try again, and maybe try a different strategy next time. That’s what them smart folks do, right?
In short, if you want some action, try Steel Division 2 or some Call of Duty games. If you want to save some money, go for War Thunder or TripleA. And if you want a real head-scratcher, then maybe try Company of Heroes 3 or Men of War. There’s a whole world of WW2 strategy games out there, just waiting for you to discover ’em.
