strategy games nintendo switch
Alright, alright, let’s talk about them… uh… strategy games on that Nintendo thingy, the Switch, right? My grandson, he’s always yappin’ about it. Says it makes you think real hard. Like plowin’ a field, but with your brain, I guess.
So, first off, there’s this “Triangle Strategy” game. Sounds fancy, don’t it? Like some kinda fancy quilt pattern. But it’s all about battles and choices. You gotta move your little guys around, fight other little guys, and make sure you don’t get your whole team whacked. Reminds me a bit of checkers, but way more complicated. And you gotta think ahead, like plannin’ for winter. Gotta have enough food and firewood, or you’re in trouble. Same with this game, gotta have your soldiers ready, or you’ll lose, big time.
Then there’s this “Advance Wars” thing. Two of ’em! Re-Boot Camp, they call it. Sounds like somethin’ the army boys do down at the base. This one’s got tanks and planes and stuff. You know, the kind of things you see on TV. You gotta be smart, like a fox in a henhouse, to outsmart the other fella. Gotta position your tanks just right, use your planes to bomb the enemy. It’s all about makin’ the right moves. You ain’t gonna get by with simple moves. More like plannin’ a whole harvest, seed to supper.
- Now, my grandson, he really likes this “Fire Emblem” game. Engage, he calls it. Like gettin’ married, I say. But it ain’t about romance, no sir. It’s about swords and magic and dragons and stuff. Fantasy stuff. You get to control a whole army of people. And if they die, they stay dead. No comin’ back. Learnin’ that the hard way, like losin’ a good hen to a fox. You got to take care of your people. And each of them has their own thing they are good at. Like Sarah down the road, she’s good at makin’ pies. But she ain’t good for much else.
- And there’s another “Fire Emblem,” this one called “Three Houses”. Sounds like a big ol’ farm. But it’s a school for soldiers. You pick one of the houses, and you train your students to fight. It’s kinda like teachin’ young’uns how to plant corn, but with more pointy things. And same as before, if they die, they die. No second chances like life on the farm.
Then there’s this “Civilization 6” game. Now, this one’s a real brain twister. You get to build your own whole darn country! From a little bitty village to a big, powerful empire. You gotta manage your resources, build cities, research new technologies. It’s a long process and takes a lot of thinking. And you gotta deal with other countries too, sometimes you trade with ‘em, sometimes you fight with ‘em. Reminds me of the old days, when the neighbors would come over to borrow sugar or help with the harvest but sometimes they come over and want your land. It’s a lot like that just not neighborly in the game.
My grandson says it’s the “flagship” strategy game for the Switch. Flagship? Sounds like a big ol’ boat to me. But I guess it means it’s one of the best. And it is a Nintendo Switch strategy game that folks seem to really like, so that has to mean something right?

So, there you have it. A bunch of them strategy games on the Nintendo Switch. If you like thinkin’ hard, and plannin’ ahead, then maybe you’ll like ‘em. Me? I’d rather stick to my garden. At least I know what I’m gettin’ into there. But these young folks, they sure do like their complicated games.
Anyways I figure these here games are good for something because they keep that boy of mine quiet for hours on end. Gives me time to do what I need to do on the farm without his constant nagging. Sometimes though I swear he yells at that thing more than he yells at his brother.
So if you’re lookin’ for some games to play that’ll make ya think, then I guess these are the ones to get. Just don’t come cryin’ to me if you can’t figure ’em out. I ain’t no gamer, that is for sure. I am just an old woman who enjoys the simple things. But maybe that’s just me. But people seem to enjoy these games so there must be something there.
