free online rts strategy games

Well, howdy there, y’all! Let’s talk about them free online strategy games, the kind that don’t cost a dime, you know? I ain’t got much money, so free is always good for me. My grandkids, they love these things, always clickin’ and tappin’ on their phones and computers. So, I figured, maybe I should learn a little somethin’ about it.

Now, what are these “strategy” games anyway? Near as I can tell, it’s like checkers, but way fancier. You gotta think, plan, and outsmart the other fella. It ain’t just about clickin’ fast, it’s about clickin’ smart. That’s what my grandson told me, anyway.

First off, there’s a whole bunch of ’em you can play right in your internet thingy, the browser, they call it. No need to download nothin’, just open it up and start playin’. Some of them are like that old board game, Risk, where you move armies around on a map. My grandson showed me. That was called atWar. Said it was free and like them old games Civilization and Axis & Allies. He’s a smart one, that boy.

Then there’s these games where you build stuff, like houses and farms and such. Medieval stuff, you know, like in them history books. You gotta make sure your people got food, and wood, and all that jazz. It’s like real life, only you can start over if you mess up. They called it somethin’ like a city-buildin’ similation. Too many big words for me. But it was fun to watch the little people build their houses. One was called Solitomb, or something like that.

And then, oh boy, then there’s the ones where you fight other people online. Real-time strategy, they call it. RTS for short, like everything needs a short name these days. It’s like a big ol’ war, but on your screen. You gotta build your army, gather your resources, and then go attack the other guy before he attacks you. Now, them games can get pretty intense, let me tell ya. My grandaughter, she likes them sci-fi ones, with spaceships and robots. Said there’s one called Strike Tactics, plays right in the browser. No downloadin’ nothin’. She’s always yellin’ at the screen, “Attack! Attack!”, makes me jump outta my skin sometimes.

  • So, you got your browser games, easy to play and free as the air.
  • You got your city-buildin’ games, where you make a whole town from scratch.
  • And you got your RTS games, where you fight other players in real time.

Now, I ain’t no expert, mind you. I mostly just watch the grandkids play. But I can see why they like it. It’s like a puzzle, only the puzzle keeps changin’. You gotta adapt, you gotta think on your feet, and you gotta be a little bit sneaky. And the best part? A lot of ’em are free! You don’t need to spend your hard-earned money to have a good time.

There are so many of these free online strategy games out there, it’s enough to make your head spin. Steam, they call it, has a whole bunch, but my grandkids play mostly on their computers and phones. They seem to find new ones every day. And that’s just fine by me. Keeps ’em outta trouble, mostly. And as long as it’s free, I ain’t complainin’. Just wish they wouldn’t yell so much when they playin’. Makes an old lady’s ears ring.

So, if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ to do, and you ain’t got much money, try one of them free online strategy games. You might just find you like it. And who knows, you might even be good at it. Just remember, it ain’t about clickin’ fast, it’s about clickin’ smart. That’s what the grandkids tell me, and they seem to know what they’re talkin’ about. At least when it comes to these here computer games.

Now go on and have some fun, ya hear? But don’t forget to eat your vegetables and call your grandma. That’s more important than any ol’ computer game.
