Alright, let’s talk about them games, you know, the ones that don’t need a fancy-pants computer. My grandson, he’s always talkin’ ’bout these newfangled games, but I tell ya, some of the old ones are just as good, and they don’t make your machine wheeze and cough like it’s gonna die.

So, what games are we talkin’ about? Well, first off, them games that look like little boxes and squares, like Terraria. You dig and build, and fight them monsters. It ain’t pretty, but it keeps ya busy. My neighbor’s boy, he plays it all day long. Says it’s got stories and all sorts of things to do. I don’t get it, but he seems happy enough.

• Terraria: Diggin’ and buildin’, that’s the name of the game.
• Stardew Valley: Plantin’ crops and makin’ friends, it’s like farmin’ but without the backache.
• Hades: Fightin’ your way out of hell, sounds scary but it’s kinda fun, my grandson showed me this one, lots of flashy lights but it worked on his old computer.

Then there’s Stardew Valley. It’s like farmin’, but you don’t get all sweaty and tired. You plant stuff, raise animals, and talk to the town folks. It’s peaceful, ya know? Reminds me of when I was younger, workin’ on the farm, but way easier. No weeds to pull in this game, that’s for sure. It ain’t for everyone, but if you like a slow pace, it’s right up your alley.

Now, my grandson, he showed me this game called Hades. You’re tryin’ to escape from the underworld, fightin’ all sorts of gods and monsters. It’s got a lot of action, but it doesn’t need a super computer to run it. I was surprised, to be honest. It’s got all them flashy colors and stuff, but his old computer handled it just fine. He says it’s got a good story too, but I was too busy watchin’ him bash them skeletons to pay much attention to that.

And there are plenty of them puzzle games, too. You know, the ones where you gotta think a bit. Like them games where you move boxes around, or connect the pipes. They ain’t flashy, but they make you use your brain. My sister, she loves them things. Says it keeps her sharp. I just get frustrated, but hey, to each their own, right?

Why play these games, you ask? Well, for one thing, they don’t cost an arm and a leg. Them new games, they’re expensive! And you gotta have a computer that costs more than my old truck to play ‘em. These games, they’re cheap, and they run on pretty much anythin’. My old computer, the one I use to check my emails and look at pictures of my grandkids, it can handle these games just fine.

And another thing, they’re fun! Just ‘cause they don’t look fancy doesn’t mean they ain’t enjoyable. Sometimes, the simplest games are the best. You don’t need all them fancy graphics and explosions to have a good time. Just a good story, or some fun gameplay, and you’re set. It’s like eatin’ a good home-cooked meal instead of some fancy restaurant food, ya know? Fills ya up just the same.

That means they don’t need a powerful computer. And there are websites, too, that list games for old computers. Just gotta do a little lookin’. Ask your grandkids, they probably know more about this stuff than I do.

Anyways, that’s my two cents on them games. You don’t need a fancy computer to have fun. There are plenty of good games out there that don’t cost much and run on just about anythin’. So, go on, give ‘em a try. You might be surprised at how much fun you have. And if you don’t like ‘em, well, you didn’t waste a whole lotta money, did ya?

And remember, don’t let them young folks tell you that you need the latest and greatest to have a good time. Sometimes, the old ways are the best. Just like a good cup of coffee and a warm biscuit, some things never get old, and that includes these simple games.
