strategy games snes
Alright, let’s talk about them strategy games on that Super Nintendo thing, the SNES. My grandkids, they love these things, always yappin’ about ’em. So, I figured, why not see what the fuss is all about? I ain’t no expert, mind you, just tellin’ it like I see it.
First off, there’s this Ogre Battle game. Heard it’s a big deal. March of the Black Queen, they call it. Sounds fancy, huh? It’s one of them games where you move your little guys around on a map, fightin’ and whatnot. Lots of thinkin’ involved, they tell me. Not just bashin’ buttons like some other games.
Then there’s all sorts of others. Seems like they got everything on that SNES. You got your city buildin’ games, where you make your own little town. Gotta keep folks happy, build houses, make sure there’s enough food. Reminds me of tryin’ to keep this old farm runnin’, ‘cept without the backache, ha!
And then, oh boy, there are games where you gotta plan out wars and stuff. Like that Civilization game everyone talks about. Never played it myself, looks complicated. But my grandson, he goes on and on about buildin’ empires and conquerin’ the world. Seems like a lot of work if you ask me. I got enough to worry about with the chickens and the crops.
Some of these SNES games, they look mighty pretty, too. Even an old lady like me can see that. My grandson told me they used some fancy machines to make the pictures. Said somethin’ about 3D and ray-tracing. Don’t know what that means, but the games sure are colorful. Lots of little details, makes you feel like you’re really there.

-
Lots of thinkin’ in these strategy games.
-
You gotta plan ahead, just like in real life.
-
Some games are about buildin’ stuff, others are about fightin’.
-
The pictures in some games are real nice to look at.
Now, they tell me these games come on little cartridges, things called “Game Paks.” Some are bigger than others. The big ones got more stuff in ’em, more characters, more levels, that sort of thing. Reminds me of them old cassette tapes, ‘cept these hold games instead of music. Technology, always changin’, always somethin’ new.
I even heard tell they still sell these games, even though that SNES machine is old as dirt. Seems like folks still like playin’ ’em. And they talk about deals, like on somethin’ called “Black Friday.” Guess that’s when you can get the games cheaper. My grandkids are always lookin’ for a bargain, just like their old grandma.
Honestly, I don’t get all the fuss about these strategy games on the SNES. Too much thinkin’ for my taste. Give me a good book or a sunny afternoon in the garden any day. But those grandkids, they sure do love ’em. And if it keeps ’em outta trouble, well, I guess that’s a good thing. Plus, they say it helps with problem-solving skills, whatever that means. Maybe these young’uns are smarter than they look.
So, that’s my two cents on them SNES strategy games. Not my cup of tea, but they seem popular enough. And who knows, maybe one day I’ll even sit down and give one a try. Just gotta find one that ain’t too complicated for this old brain. Until then, I’ll stick to my chickens and my garden. That’s enough strategy for me.

Strategy video games on the SNES, huh? Who would’ve thunk it? Back in my day, strategy was figurin’ out how to make a dollar stretch ’til next payday. But times change, I guess. And if these youngsters are gettin’ their kicks from movin’ little pixel people around on a screen, well, more power to ’em.
I do hear some of these games are better than others. Some are simple, easy to pick up. Others are deep, with all kinds of rules and systems. Guess it just depends on what you’re lookin’ for. Me? I’m lookin’ for a nap, ha!
But like I said, these games seem to keep the young’uns entertained. And they’re not just mindless shootin’ games either. Like I said, they need to think, plan, make decisions. Maybe that’s a good thing. Maybe it’ll teach ’em something about life.
So, if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ to keep you busy, somethin’ to make you think, maybe these SNES strategy games are worth a look. Just don’t expect me to be any good at ’em. I’ll stick to the real-world strategy, like makin’ sure the pies are baked on time for the county fair. Now that’s a challenge I can handle.
Just remember, kids, even with all your fancy video games, there’s no substitute for good old-fashioned common sense. And a little bit of hard work never hurt nobody neither. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I got chores to do.
