strategy games on ds
[Body]
Well, let me tell ya, those little DS thingamajigs, they got some games, alright? Strategy games, they call ’em. Like, thinkin’ games, not just jumpin’ around like a monkey. My grandkids, they love ’em. Always tappin’ and swipin’ on them screens. I tell ya, it’s a whole different world from when I was young.
So, what kinda strategy games we got on this DS? Lots, I tell ya, lots! Some are like them board games, ya know? Chess, checkers, that mahjong stuff with all them clicky tiles. Kids these days, they don’t even know how to play real checkers sometimes, always on them gadgets.
Then there’s these other ones, like, buildin’ stuff games. Civilization, they call one. Like buildin’ your own little world, from scratch. Reminds me of plantin’ a garden, gotta plan it all out, ya know? Where the tomatoes go, where the beans go. Only it’s with little tiny people on a screen instead of real veggies.
And wars! Lots of war games. Advance Wars, that’s one. You move your little soldiers around, tryin’ to outsmart the other fella. Like a big game of checkers, but with tanks and planes and such. I don’t get all the fuss, seems kinda silly to me, all that fightin’. But the kids, they love it.

- Chess
- Checkers
- Mahjong
- Solitaire
- Yams
Then there’s this Ys Strategy game. Never heard of it myself, but the grandkids say it’s good. Something about magic and monsters and who knows what else. They got all these fancy names for things these days, hard for an old lady like me to keep up. And Bomberman, too! That one’s about blowin’ stuff up, I think. Kids and their explosions, always been the same, hasn’t it?
Oh, and them LEGO games, too! They got a Ninjago one, with little LEGO ninjas fightin’. Cute little fellas, they are. I even helped my grandson put together some real LEGOs once, took me forever to find the right pieces, my eyes ain’t what they used to be. But it was fun, kinda like a puzzle. These games, they’re like puzzles too, in a way.
You know, back in my day, we didn’t have all these fancy games. We played outside, built forts, climbed trees. Got our hands dirty. These kids, they’re always lookin’ at a screen. But I guess it’s just the way things are now. Can’t stop progress, they say. Even if it means a bunch of kids starin’ at tiny screens all day.
But hey, at least some of these games are makin’ ’em think, right? Strategy games, like I said. Gotta use your brain a little, plan ahead. Not just shootin’ and jumpin’ like some of them other games. Maybe that’s why they’re so popular. Plus, you can get a DS for cheap now, they say. Used ones, all over the place. Cheaper than the games themselves, sometimes! That’s what my son told me, anyway. He’s always lookin’ for a good deal.
So yeah, DS games, strategy ones. They’re alright, I guess. Keeps the kids quiet, at least. And who knows, maybe they’re learnin’ somethin’ too. Though I still think they’d be better off playin’ outside in the sunshine. But that’s just an old lady talkin’, don’t mind me.
Anyway, if you got one of them DS things lyin’ around, go ahead and try some of them strategy games. Chess, checkers, Bomberman, Advance Wars, Ys Strategy, LEGO Battles: Ninjago, Civilization. Lots to choose from. And if you don’t like ’em, well, at least you gave it a try. That’s what I always say, try everything once. Except maybe skydiving, that just seems crazy.
