anno 2205 pc games hardware

Well, let me tell ya ’bout this Anno 2205 game on the PC. My grandson, he’s always fiddlin’ with these computer things. He told me a bit, and I reckon I can explain it to ya in plain speak.

What’s this Anno 2205 thing all about?

It’s one of them games where you build stuff, you know? Like buildin’ a whole city, but in the future. You gotta think real hard, plan things out. Not like bakin’ a cake, that’s for sure. It’s got them spaceships and robots and all that fancy jazz. My grandson says it’s a “strategy” game. Means you gotta use your noggin, I guess.

Can your old clunker of a computer run it?

Now, that’s the real question, ain’t it? You can’t just go and play any game on any ol’ computer. This Anno thing, it needs some oomph. Like a tractor needs a good engine, this game needs a good computer brain.

  • Processor: Needs a good one, like a four-cylinder in a car. They call it an “Intel i5” or somethin’. Don’t ask me what that means, but it gotta be fast.
  • Memory: That’s like the storage space in your attic. The more the better, I say. They call it “RAM,” this game wants at least 8 of them “GB” thingamajigs. Sounds like a lot to me.
  • Graphics Card: This is what makes the pictures pretty. Like puttin’ a new coat of paint on the barn. You need a decent one, or it’ll look all blurry and make your eyes go wonky. Something like a “GeForce GTX 660” or somethin’. Sounds fancy, huh?
  • Hard Drive Space: That’s where you keep all the game stuff. Like your pantry for canned goods. This game needs 35 of them “GBs.” Seems like a whole lotta space to me. Hope you got a big enough hard drive, or you’ll be in a pickle.
  • Operating System: You need that Windows thingy. The one with the little squares. My grandson says Windows 7 or somethin’ newer will do. Don’t even ask me about them other ones.

So, how do ya know if your computer’s up to snuff?

Well, there’s these websites, see? My grandson showed me. You go there, and they got this gizmo that checks your computer for ya. Tells ya if you can run the game or not. It’s like takin’ your car to the mechanic. They tell ya what’s wrong, what needs fixin’. One of them sites is called “System Requirements Lab.” Sounds mighty official, don’t it?

What if it don’t run?

Then you’re outta luck, I reckon. Unless you wanna go and buy a new computer. But them things cost a pretty penny. Maybe you can ask your grandson to help ya. Them young folks know all about this computer stuff.

Is it any good, this game?

Well, my grandson seems to like it alright. He’s always yappin’ about buildin’ this and that, sendin’ rockets to the moon. Sounds like a whole lot of fuss to me. But if you like them thinkin’ games, and you got a good computer, then maybe it’s worth a try. Just don’t go neglectin’ your chores for it, ya hear?

Where do ya get it?

You can get it online, I think. Or maybe at one of them stores that sells games. My grandson, he gets everything online these days. Says it’s easier. But I still like goin’ to the store, talkin’ to real people. But I guess that’s just the old lady in me talkin’.

Anything else I should know?

Well, it’s got that “single-player” thing and that “multi-player” thing. Single-player means you play by yourself, like solitaire. Multi-player means you play with other folks, like a barn raisin’. My grandson, he plays with his friends online. Yellin’ at the screen and carryin’ on. Seems like a hoot, I guess. Just don’t let it get to your head, ya hear? It’s just a game after all. Not like real life, where you gotta work hard and put food on the table.

Anyways, that’s all I know ‘bout this Anno thingamajig. If you want more info, go ask one of them young whippersnappers. They’ll set you straight, I reckon.
