best ps4 strategy games

Alright, alright, lemme tell ya ’bout them PS4 strategy games, the kind that make ya scratch yer head and think real hard, ya know? Not like them shoot-em-up games my grandkids play, all noise and no brains. These here, they need some thinkin’.

So, someone told me there ain’t a whole heap of these games on that PS4 thingy. Said most folks play ’em on them computer contraptions. But there’s still some good ones, if ya know where to look. I heard tell of this Crusader Kings III game. Sounds fancy, huh? Kings and all. Probably got lots of plannin’ and backstabbin’, just like them soap operas on the TV.

Then there’s this XCOM 2. Aliens and fightin’, but with a brain, ya see? Gotta think ’bout where to put yer fellas and what weapons to use. Not just runnin’ around like a headless chicken. And Civilization VI, that’s one where ya build yer own little world. From nothin’ to somethin’, like plantin’ a garden and watchin’ it grow. Only this here’s a whole dang civilization! Takes some patience, that one does.

  • Another one they talk about is Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak. Spaceships and deserts, sounds like a hot mess to me, but folks say it’s good.
  • And Total War: Warhammer II. War, that’s what it says, so I reckon there’s plenty of fightin’ in that one. But with thinkin’, remember! Strategy, they call it.

Heard a whisper ’bout Company of Heroes 2: Ardennes Assault too. More war, I guess. These young folks sure do like their war games. And Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2. That one’s been around for a while, even I heard of it back in the day. Guess it’s still good if folks are still playin’ it.

Now, some folks say even them sports games, like that PES and FIFA, they’re strategy games too. I dunno ’bout that. Seems like just kickin’ a ball to me, but what do I know? I ain’t kicked a ball since I was a young’un.

Valkyria Chronicles Remastered, now that’s a mouthful, ain’t it? Sega, that’s who made it, whoever they are. Probably some fancy city folks. But the game, it’s got pretty pictures, like them anime cartoons my grandkids watch. And fightin’, of course. But with thinkin’! Always with the thinkin’.

Someone mentioned somethin’ called Grand Ages: Medieval. Sounds like more kings and castles and such. They say it’s got lots of menus and numbers to fiddle with. Not my cup of tea, but some folks like that kinda thing. Reminds me of countin’ beans, which I gotta do enough of already.

And then there’s this Baldur’s Gate 3. Just came out, they said. August somethin’. I don’t keep track of these dates no more. Too many of ’em. But it’s supposed to be real good, this Baldur’s Gate thing. Lots of adventurin’ and choosin’ what to do. Like one of them choose-your-own-adventure books, only on the screen.

So, there ya have it. A whole bunch of them strategy games for that PS4 thing. Some new, some old, some with spaceships, some with kings. Take yer pick, but remember, ya gotta use yer brain. No shootin’ from the hip in these games, no sir. It’s all about thinkin’ ahead, plannin’ yer moves, and outsmartin’ yer opponent. Just like life, I reckon. Only with more buttons and prettier pictures.

Now, I gotta go make some supper. All this talk about games makes a body hungry. And don’t you go thinkin’ I spend all my time playin’ these things. I got better things to do, like weedin’ the garden and shooing the chickens outta the yard. But it’s good to know what them young folks are up to these days. Even if it’s just a bunch of thinkin’ and button pushin’.
