Aye, that Sea Battle thing on the phone, with the ships? Gotta tell ya, it’s a real head-scratcher sometimes. Like, where do you put them darn boats? Makes a body think, it does.

Now, I ain’t no expert, but I figured a thing or two. First off, don’t just line up them ships all nice and tidy. That’s what the young’uns do, and they get sunk quick. Spread ’em out, like chickens in the yard. Ya never know where the fox will strike, see?

• Don’t bunch ’em up! That’s just askin’ for trouble.
• Mix it up! Don’t put all the big ones together.

They say ya should aim for the middle of the board first. More likely to hit somethin’ there, they say. Makes sense, I guess. Lots of space in the middle, like a big ol’ field.

And another thing, them vertical boats. Folks forget about them sometimes, always thinkin’ horizontal. Put some of them standin’ up boats, surprise the other fella. He won’t know what hit ‘im.

Keep ’em guessin’! That’s the key. If they don’t know where yer boats are, they can’t sink ’em. Simple as that.

Now, I heard tell about some fancy strategies. Somethin’ about stayin’ out of sight of their guns, but keepin’ them in your sights. Like sneakin’ up on a deer in the woods. But that sounds too tricky for me. I just like to plop them boats down and see what happens.

And this talk of cheatin’… I don’t hold with that. Play fair, that’s what I say. Win or lose, at least ya did it honest.

It’s like that Battleship game the kids used to play, the one with the plastic ships. Remember that? Same kinda thing, this Sea Battle. Just guessin’ where the other fella hid his boats. And tryin’ to sink ’em before he sinks yours. It’s a game of luck, mostly, I reckon.

But still, it gets the blood pumpin’. Every time ya take a shot, ya hold yer breath, hopin’ for a hit. And when ya do hit somethin’, it’s a real thrill. Like findin’ a good patch of berries in the woods.

So, if you’re playin’ this Sea Battle game on yer phone, remember what I said. Spread out them boats, aim for the middle, use some vertical ones too. And play fair, darn it! That’s the most important thing.
