ark game ps4 review

Well, let me tell ya, if ya like a good survival game where you gotta fight for your life and build yourself up from nothin’, Ark: Survival Evolved on PS4 is somethin’ you might wanna try. Now, I ain’t no expert, but I can tell you this game sure keeps ya busy. It’s all about survivin’ in a world full of dinosaurs, and trust me, them big ol’ lizards ain’t the only thing you gotta worry about. The elements, the hunger, and the wildlife all want a piece of ya, and you gotta do your best to make it through.

What’s Ark about?

Now, Ark is an open-world game, which means you can roam around, explore, build, and survive however you want. But don’t think it’s all fun and games—there’s a lot of work involved! You’ll be collectin’ resources, craftin’ tools, buildin’ shelters, and of course, taming up them big ol’ dinosaurs. The dinosaurs are a big part of the game, and if you’re real lucky, you might even get yourself a tame that’ll fight by your side or help with all the hard work, like gatherin’ resources or pullin’ carts.

Graphics and Gameplay

Now, on the PS4, the graphics might not be the sharpest thing you’ve ever seen, but they ain’t bad neither. The landscapes are big and open, and you can see a lot of different environments, from jungles to snowy mountains. It’s a big ol’ world to get lost in, and it’s real easy to get distracted by all the stuff you can do. But one thing I will tell ya is this game is pretty hard on your PlayStation. Ya gotta make sure your console is up to snuff, or else it might slow down on ya. I’ve heard it takes up a lot of space, too. The game itself, when you first start, is about 16GB, but expect the whole thing to eat up about 100GB or more once it’s all downloaded and updated. So, make sure you got the space!

Single Player or Multiplayer?

Now, this part is real important. Some folks like playin’ with others, but let me tell ya, Ark is just fine on your own, too. I personally think it’s easier when you’re on your own, ’cause ya ain’t gotta deal with no other people messin’ things up. When you’re playin’ single player, the game doesn’t keep goin’ when you ain’t around. So, when you log off, everything stops, and you ain’t gotta worry about somebody comin’ along and wreckin’ all your hard work while you’re takin’ a break. Some people like the multiplayer aspect, though, ‘cause you get to team up with others, trade, and build together. It’s all up to what you like, but I’d say if you don’t wanna deal with other folks, Ark’s perfect for single player.

Is Ark Worth Your Time?

If you ask me, after puttin’ in a hundred or more hours on this game, I’d say it’s worth it. Sure, the game still feels like it’s in the early stages of development sometimes, and there’s still a lot of bugs to be worked out. But if you like survival games, and you don’t mind puttin’ in the time, it’s got a lot to offer. The idea of taming dinosaurs and buildin’ a whole world for yourself is somethin’ that’ll keep you comin’ back for more.

Final Thoughts

If you’ve got the time, patience, and a good PlayStation, Ark: Survival Evolved is a solid game to sink a lotta hours into. Whether you’re playin’ solo or with others, there’s always somethin’ to do, and you never know what kind of adventure you’ll find next. And if you’re lookin’ to relive some childhood dream of ridin’ a T-Rex or raisin’ a herd of raptors, well, this game’s got all that and more. So go ahead and give it a try, if you’ve got the space and the guts to survive the wild world of Ark.
