Now, if you’re just startin’, don’t you go thinkin’ you can jump right into the Fire Crystal Age. No, sir. That comes later, after you’ve done your fair share of work. You’ll know you’re in the Fire Crystal Age when you start needing them fancy Refined Fire Crystals for them big-time upgrades—levels 6 and higher, to be exact. I tell ya, it ain’t easy, but it’s the only way to make sure your furnace is good enough to survive all the cold. You gotta be smart with your resources, and don’t go wastin’ ’em on nothin’ you don’t need.

And, just in case you’re wonderin’, there’s a way to figure out how far along you are in this whole survival game. A good method is checkin’ your Monument, lookin’ at the completion date for somethin’ called the “Kindling Embers” achievement. Now, that’ll give you a rough idea of how old your state is in the game. The older it is, the better off you’ll be, as long as you keep your wits about ya.

But don’t get all cocky just yet. There’s plenty more to do once you get your hands on them Fire Crystals. You gotta keep on top of those upgrades, makin’ sure your furnace stays strong and ready for whatever the cold throws at ya.
