avatar the game review ps3
Well now, if you ain’t never heard of Avatar: The Game, let me tell ya, it’s somethin’ strange. I been playin’ it on the ol’ PlayStation 3, and I gotta say, it sure is a sight to see. But, don’t go thinkin’ it’s all sunshine and rainbows, no ma’am, ’cause it sure has its ups and downs.
The game takes you to this place called Pandora, where all the trees glow, and the creatures look like they came from someone’s wild imagination. It’s based on that movie, you know, the one with them blue folks, the Na’vi. The game follows that same ol’ story, only this time, you get to walk around, see all them strange plants and animals, and even fight in some big ol’ battles. But, don’t get too excited now, there’s some stuff in the game that makes you scratch your head a little bit.
What’s Good?
- The world, boy, the world is sure pretty. You got all them glowing trees and them big ol’ flying creatures. Feels like you stepped right into the movie.
- If you’re a fan of the movie, you might just enjoy it a little more, ’cause you get to be a Na’vi or one of them human soldiers, and there’s a good bit of exploration to do. The battles are big, and sometimes, you gotta make some tough choices. Which side you on? The Na’vi or the humans? It’s up to you.
- The game lets you run around in big ol’ open spaces, climbin’ trees, and fightin’ them strange creatures. If you got the patience, you might like that part.
What’s Not So Good?
- Now, here’s the part that don’t sit so well. The controls, they’re a bit clunky. Sometimes, it feels like the game don’t wanna do what you tell it to do. You try to aim at a target, and the thing goes all haywire. Not too fun when you’re in the middle of a fight.
- The story, well, it ain’t much different from what you seen in the movie. They try to make it all deep with these choices about what side you wanna be on, but it don’t always feel like it matters in the long run.
- And I gotta tell ya, that loot system? Ain’t needed! You’re out here fightin’, collectin’ stuff, and you’re wonderin’ why they even put it in the game. It don’t add much to the fun.
How Long Is It?

If you just wanna rush through the main stuff, you can finish it in about 8 hours. But if you’re the type to go for every little detail, tryin’ to get 100%, you’ll be busy for at least 19 hours. It’s a decent length, but it don’t always keep you interested the whole time.
Is It Worth It?
Well, if you liked the movie, you might find it worth your while. You get to see Pandora up close, and you get to choose which side to fight for. But if you ain’t really into Avatar, or you’re lookin’ for somethin’ with smoother gameplay, you might wanna pass this one by.
It’s a game that tries to bring the big world of Avatar to your screen, but sometimes it gets a little lost along the way. Ain’t the worst thing you could play, but also not the best.
So, that’s what I think about Avatar: The Game on the PS3. It’s got its bright spots, but it sure ain’t perfect. You give it a shot if you’re curious, but don’t expect it to knock your socks off.
