2019 game hardware

Well, let me tell ya, 2019 was quite a year for them game thingamajigs, you know, the ones the young’uns are always fiddlin’ with. I hear tell there were some big happenings, lots of new stuff comin’ out. Let’s see if this old brain can remember it all.

Them Computer Games, Big and Fancy

Folks were talkin’ ’bout them big ol’ computer games, the kind that cost a pretty penny. Said somethin’ ’bout “PC blockbusters” and “exclusives.” Sounded fancy, I reckon. One of them was called “Total War.” Never played it myself, too busy milkin’ the cows, but the young’uns seemed to like it.

Seemed like everybody was makin’ games for them PlayStations and that Nintendo Switch thingy. I saw the neighbor boy playin’ on one of them Switches once. Little feller was jumpin’ and runnin’ on the screen, looked like he was havin’ a ball. Said somethin’ ’bout it bein’ a “hybrid console.” Don’t know what that means, but it sure looked fun.

PlayStation was a big deal, that’s for sure.
And that Switch, well, it seemed like everybody and their brother wanted one. Beat out even the PlayStation, can ya believe it?

Gettin’ the Right Gear for Playin’

Now, if you wanted to play them fancy games, you needed some good gear, or so I heard. Them young’uns were always talkin’ ’bout “Nvidia GeForce” this and “RTX” that. Sounded like a whole lotta gibberish to me. But I guess it mattered if you wanted your games to look good. They said somethin’ ’bout playin’ in “4K” and “1440p.” Made my head spin, it did.

Seems like you needed a strong “CPU” too. Heard ’em mention “Intel Core i5” and “i7.” Sounded like somethin’ you’d find in a tractor, not a game machine. But I guess it’s important for keepin’ up with all them fast-movin’ pictures on the screen.

More Than Just Games, I Reckon

And it wasn’t just games, no sir. There was talk of new “VR headsets.” You know, them things you put on your head and it feels like you’re really in the game? Saw one of them at the county fair once. Man was flailin’ his arms around like a chicken with its head cut off. Looked silly, but I guess it’s fun for some folks.

Oh, and they had these “fitness gadgets” too. I guess you could play games and get your exercise at the same time. Kinda makes sense, I suppose. Lord knows them young’uns need to get off the couch more often. Back in my day, we got our exercise workin’ on the farm, not playin’ games.

So, What Did It All Mean?

Well, I reckon 2019 was a big year for them game folks. Lots of new stuff comin’ out, lots of fancy gadgets and gizmos. Me, I’m happy with my old radio and a good book. But them young’uns, they sure do love their games. And I guess that’s alright, long as they don’t forget their chores.

A lot of things happened in 2019 that changed gaming forever. It’s amazing to think how much has changed since then. If you want to play those newfangled games, you’re going to need the right equipment. But at the end of the day, it is all about having fun. If you like to play games, then that is good enough for me.
